Ica - Swedish tv ads

Ica has successfully made a series out of their commercials, which show characters from an Ica store. This campaign has been running for a few years now I think, and I, along with he rest of Swden love watching these ads! The Ica tv camaign is one of my favourites..
Above are a few of the newest ones; the 'Jerry-the-intern' episodes..
I guess I have to take back what I wrote about Keenan earlier, as this could be seen as pretty much the same thing. Only this time I think its really funny and it works because the intern is kick-ass!

Want to look pretty on your death bed?

Incredible surgery

When Micah Andrews was 2 years old, he was in a car accident, resulting in all his tendons
that held his head and spine together being ripped. The only thing supporting and connecting his head and spine were muscles. After surgery, he managed to recover, and is now like any other kid. Is it a miracle, or has surgery improved immensely? See the videoclip here.

These ads aren't new, but I really like them and haven't put them on my blog before so thought I would..
I like the approach and the lightness of the art direction in the ads even though its a sensitive subject.

Crocosaurus Cove

If you're ever in Australia and feel for an adrenaline rush, visit Crocosaurus Cove and
enter the 'Cage of Death' to experience close encounters with large crocodiles!

My favourite photograph!

I love this photo that I took in Malaysia. It feels really warm and soft, the bright colours of the flower contrasting the darker background and the silhouette of the palm tree. I like the angle its taken from and the direction. Just one of those few photos that really gets my attention. Then again, I have no idea what the proper rules of photography are, so I could be completly out there.. but yeah, I like it!

Step into the future

Augmented (hyper)Reality: Domestic Robocop from Keiichi Matsuda on Vimeo.

I met up with my friend today and had a little catch-up at her place. The TV was on and we stopped talking as soon as we saw these cute babies come on the screen. Its a documentary about four babies in different parts of the world, and how they experience their first year. I think it would be really interesting to watch and see the culture differences and the fact that they're babies and just really cute!

Animals are cute!

I love animals, maybe a bit too much! Animals are one of the hardest things to photograph as you can't tell them how to pose or stay still. You've only got a few seconds to capture the perfect moment. I would love to have the skill and talent to take photographs like the ones below!

Monkey moment, by Patrick Corning in Costa Rica
Brown bear, by Sergey Gorshkov in East Russia,

Meerkats, by Shem Compion, South Africa
Asian elephant, by Jeff Yonover, US

Keenen, the celebrities new trend

I get that this kid's loving it right now, and it is pretty funny..but I just think its ridiculous
how celebrities, although I don't even know who the ones below are, are using him to get attention...

These films arent new so people have possbly already seen them, but I thought they were interesting in their own ways, so if you haven't seen them and feel for a movie night, here are some tips! :)

I found this movie a bit wierd, but some scenes in this movie are so funny I laugh just thinking about it!

It is actually an unthinkable movie.

When I saw this trailor being advertised on TV I thought I'd never watch it. I got bored, and watched it one day, and I think its pretty good. I'd watch it again.

Not what I expected from the title and when I saw the actors, especially Adam Sandlar. Different..

Website up and running!!

I have finally(!!) managed to put up my website! When it comes to websites, I am not as technical as I would've liked, so the template is unoriginal, but it was either that or set templates with pictures of smiling strangers on every page! It looks a bit dull and there are so many things about it that annoys me...
I am so grateful that I actually managed to create my website and publish it online that it'll have to
do. For now!

So check it out!!

Hoffmaestro & Chraa - highway man

This song is one of my favourites right now. They're Swedish from Sthlm, though sound like they are
influenced a bit by american artists. They have a couple of good songs, so if you digg it, jigg it!

just because...
When you hear the song you don't really think about all the sound effects that they themselves make, so if you're interested, heres another video of the same song acoustic live!

What do you think?

Having not visited relatives for 8 years, my family and I decided it was time to pack our bags and head for Malaysia! I've got 4 more days before I leave this tropical country, and I've built up a lot of inspiration for my creativity since my stay here. I can't wait to get back to London and start drawing up the campaigns I've been brainstorming while I've been here!

Penang beach
Grape flip flops anyone?

I'll write some more about Malaysia when I get back, the wedding traditions, the culture.. some more inspirational objects/places and wierd-looking, living things.

Hurray, my blog is fixed!

Apparently a youtube clip that I had posted earlier was the problem to my broken blog. As soon as I deleted it my blog returned to its original self again. yay!! This is how happy I feel right now:

"I'm on a horse" spoof

In an earlier post I wrote about Old Spice commercial. Now the sun is celebrating 40 years and
have made a spoof on Old Spice's ad.

Light-Paint Piano Player from Ryan Cashman on Vimeo.

Farmer seeks wife

This is a clip from the TV series 'Farmer seeks wife', not sure if the series exists in England but this is the Swedish version. The clip shows the first speed date between the two, which is just basically 5 minutes of awkward silence and wierd dialects. Embarressing and hilarious at the same time.

Nelly ft teenage dwarf

I'm not really sure what to think of this video. Its cute, but at the same time, is it right that Nelly is using this kid to get media coverage? But then does it even matter as the kid got to meet Nelly and do his thing on youtube with him?

Does anyone know how I can fix my blog? All my previous posts have dissapeared as well as my gadgets.
Please help! :)

I'm sorry, what did you say?

I was sitting at my friend's place chatting away about some nonsence not paying attention to what was on the telly when I heard "The taste comes from the holes". Well, not properly translated but the best I can think of. I immediately reacted thinking that the commercial's tagline, which was for a cheese was a strange and really unappropriate choice. Who wants to associate cheese with something sexual?

I understand what they were trying to say, and I think the strategy is acutally quite good. But the tagline just sounds wrong!! I wonder whether this commercial has been more negative for the product than effective? I feel a bit put off cheese when I read/see it.

I later read in the news that the commercial has been badly critisied.
The funny part was the warning for sensitive watchers which they always have to write before the link to see a video clip. "Obs, the commercial can to some people be arousing!"

Heroin addicts in Swansea

The other day I saw a documentary about a few people in Swansea and their addiction to Heroin.
I couldn't find the link to clip, but I found an article for those who are interested to read.. Shocking
to see how some people lead their daily lives, and how different it is to mine.

Right back at ya Mr!

This girl is amazing! She video-blogs about different human truths in comedic way.
Some of the comments she gets are quite racist, and even then she gave a comedic response.
She deserves to be watched, so I'm promoting her a bit on my blog! :)

It matters if you're black or white

Yesterday I couldn't sleep, so I went onto BBC iplayer and watched the movie 'Skin'. It's based on a true story about a black girl born to white parents in Johannesburg round the 1940s. Its gives real insight on how difficult it was to live in a society where coloured people didn't have the same rights as white people, and all the problems she went through in her life due to her skin colour. I would definitely recommend this movie to everyone. I was so shocked how racist some places were at such "modern" times.

As a "mixed-raced" person myself I've thought a bit in my life what nationality I think of myself as. I'm half Swedish and half Malaysian. Due to my mother having darker features I have never really looked Swedish, yet I have lived in Sweden all my life and know of the Swedish cultures and traditions more than the Malaysian. I almost always get the comment "..But you're not blonde or blue eyed?" when I   tell people that I'm from Sweden. Its quite funny, how so many people make that comment when England's full of diversity.

Back to the movie, I (even though the situation was extreme in comparison to mine) found that I could relate a little to it, and found it really interesting! It brings out the truth, that people care a lot about the outside, even though its just colour, ethnicity or beauty.

New Blood

Went to see the New Blood exhibition a short while on the last day. Didn't have much time to look around but I was impressed by what I saw! Many talented students out there! Was exciting to see my own work up on the wall as well..(behind me, top left)

Made a few business cards for the exhibition..

Swedish Midsummers

On friday we had a few friends round to celebrate Swedish midsummers with us. We shared our tradition by making typical swedish food; Sandwich cake, pickled herring (so much nicer than it sounds, i promise) salmon, potato and sour cream and chives dip. People brought their own bbq as well, so it was a mixture of lots of goodness! We introduced "Snaps", a swedish 40% alcohol that people sip with food, as well as made halos out of flowers and even a midsummer pole (which people dance around) out of a broom stick and leaves.

Course mates Tom and Ruby

The boys were loving the food!

Steph and I wearing our flower halos :)

It almost felt as if I was in Sweden! It made me miss my parents a bit though, as this is probably the first time I haven't celebrated midsummers with them.

Iphone 4G

Mine, in two days!! Well, on thursday, for those who count it as a new day past 00:00!
I'm soo excited!!

Internet, I miss you.

Currently Steph and I are stealing Internet from our fellow neighbour, The Earl Percy, which is a hotel pub.  Sometimes its works perfectly, and sometimes its really bad. Therefore I've not been able to update my blog as often as I'd like. But no worries, we're getting our own Internet on the 5th of July, so I'll be up and running more often after that :)

"Have they cross-bred tigers with dogs?"

On the train to London I was reading an article about the latest trend in China with pets. My sweet friend Steph thought they had bred tigers and dogs, how cute is she?

But no, really the latest trend is to die peoples' pets the same colour as different animals. I think its pretty cool. Who wouldn't want their dog to look like a fierce tiger, or a cute tiny baby panda?!

Then there are those who take it way too far...

Not really digging this, but it is a bit funny though!

Busy bee in Landan town

Been a bit lousy with the blog updates, been busy in London with the new flat and all
the sorting out that comes with it. Really feel grown up now!
I've managed to score a job at the spanish clothes shop Bershka on Oxford st. I start tomorrow
which is really exciting! Also, I'll be getting a few hours at the pub next door. It's all gone so
quickly which was surprising. I thought job hunting would take weeks, instead its taken 3 cv hand-outs and  an hour later I got a phone call from the manager asking for an interview!

Its all good!

The most romantic song I know!

Last engine shed night!

Yesterday was the last night at Engine Shed, the university night club. It was emotional. It was packed, everybody was happy (and a little bit sad that it was over) and we all had a good time! Wish that Andy, Luke and Tim was there as well though! A night I'll always remember!

This song is in 'The Strangers' and it fits so well with the scenes. Its a nice song, but has a bit of a creepy feel to it.

love it

Saab, I am impressed

Saab hasn't been too well for a long time now. Although through recent studies, sales are increasing and the brand's launching new cars next year that look quite different to the traditional saab models. Impressed? I kinda like them!

As there's not much to do in Lincoln, and I've had a lot of free time, I've been watching
quite a few movies. Here's some I recommend :)

I love you, man (a new favourite)
The strangers
The House Bunny
Nosferatu the dracula

Can't think of anymore at the moment, so I'll leave it at that.

la la la

I have now finished uni! Assessment tomorrow and then the third year show awaits! My parents will be arriving in Lincoln on the 3rd, so excited to meet them!

I will be participating in New Blood this year, really syked about that! Look out for me :)

Celebrating the end of an Era

On tuesday we celebrated finishing uni by heading down to the pub with our course mates and tutors. I had a really good time, although as I hadn't slept all night or eaten anything all day, I missed the party by falling asleep at 9 o'clock!

The whole course on our way to get a group photo taken :)

Our tutor Mike.

Gyles, our other tutor.

Now I'm just impatiently waiting to find out what grades I'm going to get!
